Glenkinchie is one of the few remaining Lowlands distilleries. The 12-year-old has replaced the 10 as the new ‘standard’ for Glenkinchie.
Nose: Light citrous smell, somewhat like freshly cut grass, but nothing too impressive.
Mouth: Rather light, some fruity notes, mostly citrous.
Finish: A bit harsh, the citrous taste fades away and leaves just alcohol behind, and not the very good kind.
For the price, I was rather disappointed in this malt. It starts out okay, but then turns rather rough through the finish. Perhaps better with a bit of water.
